Career in Automobile Engineering in India


Automotive engineering or automobile engineering is a part of mechanical engineering. Currently, due to the rapid growth of the embedded system and the manufacture of automotive components, there is a great demand for automotive engineering. It is a segment that deals with motorcycles, cars, and buses.


The study of automotive engineering is to design, develop, manufacture and test components of vehicles, from the concept phase to the production stage. BE / B. TECH in Automotive Engineering is a four-year program where you will learn about fluid mechanics and machinery, thermodynamics, vehicle dynamics, industrial engineering and much more.

Eligibility for Automobile engineering:

Diploma in Automotive engineering: -

Duration: 3 year
Eligibility: Candidates must complete 10+2 with minimum 50% marks in physics, chemistry, mathematics from a recognized board examination.

Bachelors in automotive engineering: -

Duration: 4 year
Eligibility: To get admission in BE/ B.Tech with automobile engineering stream candidates must have passed 10+2 with minimum qualifying marks with mathematics, Physics, and chemistry.
Besides national level tests like JEE, and another entrance test also held by the various state, central, and private universities which require 50% marks as qualifying to appear for the test.

·       Commercial Awareness: To satisfy customers, automobile engineers keep up to date with industry developments new technology innovations.

A person with a degree in automobile engineering can get one of the following designations:

·         Automobile designer
·         NVH (noise, Vibration, and Harshness) engineers
·         Quality control executive
·         Research and development engineer

Salary range:

The salary package of an engineer depends on many factors like company size, company profile, and experience of candidates. And depends on the institute where you have completed your studying.
The salary for beginners is approximately 10,000-20,000 per month. An experienced engineer can earn 100,000(approx.) per month.
